A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Kofi Mintah, has appealed to party members to be patient while issues arising out of nomination of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief executives are resolved.
Addressing an NDC meeting at Winneba Junction on Wednesday Mr. Mintah, Chairman of the Central Regional Disciplinary Committee of the party, noted with concern protests over some of the nominations the President had made.
“Getting on to the streets to demonstrate and destroy valuable property is not the best way of seeking redress to a problem.”
Mr Mintah said certain factors might have been considered before the nominations were made and called for calm from party members.
“It is possible and normal for certain interest groups in the party to have favourites among the candidates but the process should not be condemned if their candidates are not nominated,” he said.
Mr. Mintah said it was improper to reject nominees outright when they had not performed in the capacities for which they had been nominated.
He suggested they should be given the opportunity to serve and if they fail people could justifiably call for their removal from office.
Mr Mintah said people’s personal interests should not override decisions that could bring relief to Ghanaians.
