The Member of Parliament for Cape Coast says it is too early for his constituents to mount pressure on the president to fulfill his electoral promises to them.
Mr. Ebo Barton Oduro’s comments follow calls by a group, the Patriotic Youth Movement for Cape Coast, on president J.E.A. Mills to start delivering on his promises to the people as a matter of urgency.
The group said the region has not seen much development since it’s creation despite being the nation’s capital once.
But the MP said the calls are too early and that the residents of the area should exercise patience as the president was committed to fulfilling his promises.
The Deputy Attorney-General and Minister of Justice said having been in power for a little over a hundred days, it is unrealistic to fulfill all electoral promises.
With regards to promises made to fishing communities, Mr. Barton Oduro said the measures had already been put in place to stem pair trawling in the fishing areas.
He said the Minister of Agric was collaborating with the Navy to secure boats for patrolling the shores of the country.
