Ghana midfielder Michael Essien is not likely to extend his stay at Milan in the summer, according to his agent Fabrizio Ferrari.
The ex-Chelsea star could not replicate his fine form since making a January free transfer move to the Italian giants last year. He joined the Serie A side on a one-and-a-half year contract.
“I don’t know what will happen, but I believe he will not renew with Milan,” Ferrari told ItalianFootballDaily.
“Essien is happy at Milan, he could remain, but it is doubtful. It’s a bit early to predict what will happen in June,” the agent stressed.
“Milan is a prestigious club which is difficult to get into, but also difficult for a player to want to leave it.”
The 32-year-old has been linked with clubs in the USA – Toronto FC, Columbus Crew and Portland Timbers. He has made nine appearances in 17 Serie A games this season.
