Kuami Eugene says everyone has an opinion about him being crowned Artiste of the Year at the 2020 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).
According to him, it does not matter who took the award home as people will have an opinion anyway irrespective of who was announced as the winner.
The ‘Open Gate’ hitmaker said on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM that he understands every fan base feels like their artiste deserves to win the Artiste of the Year award and his equally feels same.
“If Sarkodie had won, people will come and say he didn’t deserve it, if Kinaata had won it, people from Sark nation will come and say he didn’t deserve it. In the same way there are numbers of people out there saying, ‘finally this boy got what he deserved’, it’s both ways.”
Kuami Eugene on Saturday was crowned artiste of the year at the VGMAs. He bet Sarkodie, Diana Hamilton, Kofi Kinaata, Medikal and King Promise to win the award.
He also snatched the award for Highlife artiste of the year. He is the first artiste to win the award three times in a row.
The Lynx Entertainment signee said he was being hopeful like any other artiste to take home an award.
“I keep saying that, so far as we are all in that category everyone is a winner, and everybody can be a winner so if I am being called out as a winner I have to accept it in good faith.”
