The Kenn Kafui Foundation, a non-profit organisation solely purposed to promote and preserve the works of Kenneth Kafui invited the general public to the celebration of the life and work of the African composer scheduled for Sunday, 6th September 2020 at 6 pm.
The well-renowned African composer Kenneth Kafui, commonly known by all as Kenn Kafui was celebrated to honour his works after his demise.
Efua-Sutherland Drama Studio sited in the University of Ghana, Legon hosted the celebration of the late Kenneth Kafui.
The event dubbed "An evening of songs and tributes" had the presence of dignitaries and music personalities such as Osei Korankye, Dr Benjamin Amakye, Dr Joshua Amoah and Alfred Patrick Addaquay.
Family and the Department of Music, School of Performing Arts in the University of Ghana, Legon presented the biography and tribute in memory of the late Kenn Kafui.
"Mr Kafui popularly known as Kenn Kafui was appointed lecturer in the Department of Music, School of Performing Arts in 2006. He served in this position until his retirement in July 2016, a period of ten years.
"Subsequently, he was appointed a part-time lecturer, a position he held until his passing on. He admired and offered respect to every member of the Department of Music.
"His prayers at departmental gatherings portrayed a music theorist. It will be very difficult to replace Mr Kafui.
"We will miss you dearly. Rest peacefully in the Lord" Dr Joshua Amoah stated.
The world-known chorale from Ghana; Harmonious Chorale, The String Quartet, Dr Kim from the School of Performing Arts performed gracefully to famous works of Kenn Kafui.
The all-time favourites like Dzidorm, Migli, Zodede, Mida akpe na Mawu and other famous piano recitals composed by Kenn Kafui took the audience into an emotional state.
The audience who were present virtually shared their heartfelt thoughts on the works of the iconic composer Ken Kafui and performances in his honour.

Alumni from Achimota Senior High School shared their sentiments saying "Music never dies. As Gheho of Achimota used to say 'If we don't learn to sing on earth, how can we sing in heaven?' You taught many to sing, Kenn Kaafui, and for this we're thankful. Rest in peace Kenn kafui.
"Dzudzo le nutifafa me. May his soul rest with the Lord. KK lives on, perfect rest unto his gentle soul. A great man by all standards" were a few numbers of comments that came in with great pace via the social media platform, Facebook.
Kenneth Avortri Kafui was born on 25th July 1951 and died on 18th March 2020.
The University of Ghana, Legon was the home of the late composer since he spent most of his life as service personnel in 1976, a lecturer in music theory and composition at the music department and the director of Abibigromma theatre group of the University of Ghana, Legon.
As an iconic African composer, he composed choral works, works for choir and orchestra, symphonic works, piano and organ works, and works for traditional African instruments.
He also created new concepts and genres in African art music such as the Pentanata, the HD-3 form and Drumnata.
