President Nana Akufo-Addo has stated that despite the country's success in mitigating the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic, Ghanaians should continue to be cautious and maintain strict adherence to the safety protocols as the virus remains a mystery.
During his 18th address to the nation on measures taken against the spread of the virus on Sunday, the President urged all citizens to observe the necessary precautionary protocols in the fight against the pandemic.
"In spite of our successes, I would like to reiterate that this virus remains something of a mystery, and we should always rather err on the side of caution, and continue to observe the protocols that have brought us to where we are.
"This is the surest way by which we can defeat the virus, and avoid a second wave of infections,” he added.
Since his last update in the number of active cases had declined to 398, 46,664 persons fully recovered from the virus, putting the recovery rate at 98.5%.
The president mentioned that "daily infection rates are no longer in the hundreds as they were sometime back, as it stands now, they are in the tens, averaging 25 new cases per day, in the course of last week."
He further urged Ghanaians to practice strict hygiene, mandatory mask-wearing and observe social distancing protocols that have become part of the country's daily routine.
