Actress Christiana Awuni is urging the Actors Guild to call out Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey to apologise for the comments she made while campaigning for Lydia Alhassan.
The Foreign Minister was heavily criticised for saying Parliament was for serious minded people, not those who have acted in some movies and think they are popular.
According to the Christiana Awuni, the Actors Guild needs to condemn the issue and demand that the legislator apologises.
Speaking on Accra FM, the Kumawood actress said she will quit the job if institution governing the film industry remains quiet over the issue.
She stated that their silence will not only reaffirm Madam Ayorkor Botchwey's words but also convince people that acting is truly a useless profession.
Christiana Awuni said the Actors Guild should write to the Foreign Minister and demand an apology before the issue can be put to rest.
Actors Lydia Forson and Van Vicker have also condemned the Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey's comments.
However, in a response she stated that detractors were reading meaning into her comments.
“It was never meant to be an attack on a particular person or the entire film making and Creative Arts industry.”
“Any desperate attempts by the political opportunists to twist and portray this as a swipe an entire industry should be treated with the contempt it deserves,” she added.
