Ghana’s Ambassador to Senegal, H.E. Dr Felix Kumah Godwin Anebo, has hailed the efforts of Team Ghana’s swimming delegation following their participation in the 2026 Africa Aquatics Zone II Championships in Dakar.
Dr Anebo praised the leadership of Ghana’s swimming fraternity and parents for their collective efforts in raising funds to support the team’s participation when he met the delegation at the opening ceremony of the three-day competition.
Accompanied by Deputy Head of Mission Mr Abu Osman, the Ambassador noted that the collective effort had enabled Ghana to send its biggest visiting delegation to the championships.
He also urged the swimmers to remain disciplined and work hard as they seek to improve their performances and make Ghana proud on the international stage.

Meanwhile, among the standout performers was Abeku Jackson, who claimed six individual gold medals and was named Best Swimmer at the competition.
He also set a new national record in the 50m backstroke with a time of 26.27 seconds and won the Best Performance award in the senior men’s 50m butterfly after clocking 24.17 seconds.
Joselle Mensah also enjoyed a strong campaign, setting a new senior national record in the 50m freestyle with a time of 26.36 seconds.
Nubia Adjei added to Ghana’s record-breaking performances by setting a new senior national record in the 50m butterfly with a time of 28.80 seconds.
13-year-old Yamin Amankwah Boamah was another standout, winning five medals during the championships.
The performances underline the progress being made by Ghanaian swimmers and provide encouragement for the continued development of the sport.
