Gladson Awako and Maxwell Nii Abbey Quaye scored as Great Olympics secured an impressive 2-0 win against Hearts of Oak in the Mantse derby on Saturday evening.
Awako opened the scoring for the Ole Dade boys at the Accra Sports Stadium, brilliantly converting a direct free kick in the 14th minute.
Three minutes later, Olympics doubled their lead. This time, it was Maxwell Quaye who scored a stunning goal.
Ashie Quaye dispossessed Frederick Ansah Botchway in the opposition half and crossed the ball to his brother Quaye who volleyed it past the Hearts goalkeeper.
In the second half, Hearts of Oak had seemingly woken up from their slumber. They forced a good save from Sead Salifu in the 51st minute.
After that effort, the Phobians did little to turn the tie. Olympics have won their first game against Hearts since 2004.
Hearts of Oak were on a 10 match unbeaten run against Olympics and had failed to score against their opponents once in their last seven league meetings (0-0 draw in 2015).
Olympics are now third on the log with 18 points and Hearts are fourth with 16 points.
Earlier on Saturday, King Faisal came from three goals down to beat Berekum Chelsea 4-3 at home.
