Minister-designate for Tourism, Arts and Culture has called on sector players to support him in his commitment to drive the success of the industry.
Speaking before Parliament's Appointment Committee, Dr. Mohammed Awal said that the support coupled with his expertise in the business will bring transformation into the sector.
According to him, government has already started working in the regard with the introduction of the National Film Authority, Creative Art law among others.
“We need to make sure that we make the creative artists comfortable. We need to make them happy and rich and I want them to support me,” Dr Awal said.
Also, the former Business Development Minister revealed that the ministry will facilitate the building of a $20 million film and music studio.
“We don't have a modern studio in this country that helps with movie production and other creative activities. That alone will create an opportunity for us not only to produce movies but also make music,” he added.
Furthermore, Dr Awal explained that this project will also help make Ghana the hub of filmmaking on the continent.
“I am a business-driven person wanting results, so, I am going to bring that experience of business activity in the past to bear on the creative arts sector to make their works very effective and successful. I can assure them that,” he told the panel Thursday.
