Central Regional Minister, Justina Marigold Assan is promising government’s support for traders who lost their wares in the fire that gutted the Mankessim market Tuesday night.
Fifty-seven stalls were gutted by fire destroying property of traders running into millions of cedis.
According to residents, the fire tenders had a tough time having access to the market to douse the fire.

Personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) and the Ghana Police Service spent close to three hours before bringing the situation under control.
The Central Regional Minister as well as MP for Mfantsiman, Ophelia Mensah Hayford visited the market on Wednesday and interacted with the traders.

According to the Regional Minister, the incident as unfortunate as it is, should teach everyone valuable lessons.

She urged the traders to cooperate with the Assembly to enforce the laws.
MP for Mfantsiman, Ophelia Mensah Hayford, indicated an ultra-modern market is going to be built for the traders that would have many facilities including a fire service station.

He pleaded with traders who usually oppose relocation exercises the assembly embarks on to have a change of mind.
