A police reinforcement from Kibi and Suhum could not stop angry residents of Amanase, a suburb of Suhum from setting ablaze a vehicle belonging to five suspected ritual murderers.
The irate youth also damaged a police vehicle when the police attempted to rescue the ritual murderers who had been apprehended by the residents.
The suspects identified as Prince Adjololo, 26, Solomon Adjololo, 28, Mintah Benjamin, 23, Felix Haya,27, and Akwasi Tenkorang, 27, were arrested by the mob for allegedly attempting to abduct a child in the community for rituals.
They were kept hostage in the chief's palace where they were interrogated.
The angry mob wielding sticks and matchetes bayed for the blood of the suspects.
The residents started pelting the Police with stones resulting in damage to a Police vehicle with registration number GP 2867.
The police, however, fired warning shots to disperse the angry mob before they could rescue them.
The suspects are believed to be linked to the fetish priestess and Priest at the centre of the killing of the 10-year-old boy at Kasoa.
They are currently in police custody.
