Academic head of Open Labs Ghana, Accra campus, Augustine Effah has observed wrongful selection of data analysis tools has led to poor decision making in many companies.
He says many institutons are yet to grasp the role of software in data analysis.
Speaking at a training workshop in Kumasi, he urged companies to seek professional help in this direction.
“Companies often get confused whiles selecting the appropriate tool for data analysis.
“There is the need for them to understand the role software plays in data science and data analysis,” he said.
The training program organized by Open Labs Ghana, Kumasi Campus, will train individuals on regular handling of data.
Mr. Effah hinted the Institution plans to roll out a program dubbed “Sua Bi” to equip the public with basic computing skills.
This it to give beneficiaries employable skills.
“We would want everyone to understand the basics of computing. As a market woman, you should know how to print your records.
“As a science student, there is the need to learn python. It is an important part in programming. All these is to create employment.
Increasing data storage and databases requires expert handling.
He is also urged women to develop the interest in coding to eliminate gender disparities.
“Women are analytical. A course like data analytics is perfect for them. They could also come up with beautiful websites,” he said.
Some of the participants lauded the institution for the initiative.

"The seminar has given me an overview of what data science is and I think society put women in a box when it comes to data science
