Government of Ghana has received additional 244,800 doses of the Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccines through the African Vaccine Acquisition Trust (AVAT).
The AVAT mechanism was established by the African Union and is supported by the World Bank.
The vaccines arrived at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) on Thursday, September 2.
This forms part of government's interventions to ensure the country attains herd immunity in the fight against the virus.

Earlier in August, 177,600 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine were procured by government from the African Vaccine Acquisition Trust (AVAT) initiative.
The Ghana Health Service (GHS) following the procurement, last week began administering the vaccines in places identified to be hotspot in all regions across the country.

The administration of the Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccines in the Greater Accra and Ashanti Regions ended with approximately 155,000 vaccines administered in the two regions.
