Big schools have fallen at this year’s Absa Bank National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) currently ongoing in the Ashanti region.
Former champions Adisadel, Pope John’s, Mfantsipim, St. Augustine’s, St. Thomas Aquinas and Achimota have all exited the competition.
This year’s quiz, which is taking place in the Ashanti Region for the first time, is witnessing a mixed bag of excitement and disappointment as a school continue to battle it out at the Absa Bank Money Zone stage of the NSMQ.
Meanwhile, schools such as Keta SHS, Chemu SHS, Tamale SHS and KNUST SHS, have all made it to the semi-final stage alongside St. Peters SHS, Presec-Legon SHS, Opoku Ware SHS, Prempeh College and Wesley Girls High School.
The Absa Bank Money Zone of the NSMQ begins from the Quarter Finals stage through to the Grand Finale.
All contesting schools at this stage are rewarded with cash prizes based on points earned at each stage.
Commenting, Nana Essilfuah Tamakloe, Marketing & Corporate Relations Director at Absa Bank Ghana, said the Absa Money Zone is an extension of the Bank’s overall commitment to the competition, which includes headline sponsorship of the regional championship and the newly created STEM Festival.
She says the prizes are to motivate the contestants to race to the finishing line with determination and hard work.
“Beyond the financial rewards, the Absa Bank Money Zone is to also encourage contestants to keep up a positive attitude and embrace the competitive spirit that drives the quiz competition.”
Absa Bank Ghana is a lead sponsor for the NSMQ organised by Primetime Limited in partnership with the Ghana Education Service (GES).
