Some fans sang their lungs out accompanying the tunes, others could only watch in admiration with grins.

Participating teams, however, were engaged in the final warm-up to compete for the coveted trophy, but in their veins, they assimilated the sounds blasting through the speakers.

This was a moment they deserved. Tairat and Zamalek have shown they were shoulders above others from the group stage and meritoriously earned their place here. 

Before the very eyes of the Director-General of the National Sports Authority(NSA), Professor Peter Twumasi, and many others, the players lined up to exchange pleasantries.

Of course, the Egyptian national anthem could not have been absent at a moment Egyptians should be proud of.

Players sang in unison from the anthem blasting through the stadium speakers.The early cheers of excitement, same anthem for two teams soon extinguished.

The natives became opponents, and it was Zamalek who struck first but Tairat who were not ready to give up replied with an immediate equaliser and doubled their lead after a well-worked team goal. 

Team Zamalek who were still recovering from the second goal was hit with a third strike by Tairat who made life more difficult for their fellow counterparts in quick succession. 

Tairat would go on to increase their tally to 4-1, taking a commanding 3 goals advantage in the second quarter of the game.

For a game with so much at stake, one would've thought the two teams would've given each other a run for their money but it turned out Tairat were too powerful, quicker and well prepared than their opponents. 

The final result was a 7-2 annihilation in favour of Tairat who showed no mercy to their wounded opponents.

It was ecstasy unconfined, joy lost bounds, as they climbed each other in celebration of their success.

The Egyptian party was soon over, and it was the turn of the host nation. With a partisan crowd behind Ghana Revenue Authority. No, it is not the men's team of the country's revenue collection team. They failed with distinction. 

Where the men failed, the women rose to the occasion, taking the mantle to fly high the flag of the country in their division.It was a tie against a Nigerian opposition.

The battle was not about who had the best Jollof. The Jollof argument was for those in the stands and soon ended in agony as they beat Delta Queens 3-0.

The Ghanaians made their presence felt from the start of the game and did not give their Nigerian counter a dog chance in the game.

The second quarter would open the flood gates as GRA opened the scoring, before adding two more in the third quarter of the game. 

Delta Queens huffed and puffed but their efforts weren't enough to trouble a very strong and confident GRA team whose performance saw them seal an impressive win to claim the gold medal.

This was a party for groups and individuals, and outstanding participants were awarded.

GRA's Mavis Bafie won the women's best player of the tournament award while Tairat's  Abdallah Anwar was handed the best in the men's category.

An assembly of 14 teams in Ghana means the country has got the potential to host the bigger competition. President of the Ghana Hockey Association, Dr KD Asante did not lose an opportunity to remind the world, the hosting the rest of the continent next year will be an event to remember.

"Hosting the rest of Africa would require an improved infrastructure and, most importantly, funding.

Ghana hosted a party to remember but lost out on the men's cake to Egypt, but there is an opportunity to right the wrongs when the rest of Africa assemble for the Hockey Cup of Nations in January next year.
