An isolation centre worth ¢295,000 has been commissioned at the Suntreso Government Hospital in Kumasi.

The 10-bed facility is expected to provide special treatment to patients with various illnesses including Covid-19 and other infectious diseases.

The request for the construction of the facility was occasioned by a donation from Unique Royal extended to the hospital during the peak of COVID-19.

According to the Chairman of Unique Royal, Anthony Kofi Gyamfi, the Suntreso Hospital expressed concern about the lack of an isolation centre for infectious diseases. 

"It was in response to this critical need that the club undertook this landmark project to resolve this gap and to save lives," Mr. Gyamfi said. 

Mr. Gyamfi says the club will continue to build social partnerships for sustainable health delivery to inspire other social clubs to do same to bridge critical infrastructure and equipment gaps in the country.

"It is our expectation that the facility would be put to good use and well-maintained not only as a living testimony to our collective sacrifices but to inspire other social clubs to emulate this enduring gesture" Mr. Gyamfi added.

Medical Superintendent of the Suntreso government hospital, Dr. Thomas Agyarko Poku expresses excitement about the edifice. 
Dr. Poku says the facility will help reduce the usual pressure and provide a better place for patients with infectious diseases.

"Isolation ward has everything in it to ensure that the staff and visitors are not infected."

He says the hospital is lucky as it won't refer its patients to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

Among the beneficiary hospitals of Unique Royal support include a patient monitor to Kumasi South Hospital, Blood Bank Fridge to Manhyia District hospital, mechanical ventilator to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital among others.

The activities of the club are not restricted to only health facilities but to all areas that can positively change the lives of people. 
Members have contributed to building a vocational training centre and equipped it for female prisons at the Kumasi central prisons to ensure productive prison graduates.

Mr. Gyamfi commends members, patrons and associates of the club whose immense contributions and sacrifices made the isolation centre possible.
