The Ghana National Gas Company (GNGC) is saving taxpayers an amount of $36million annually through indigenising the operations of its installations, according to MP for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh.
In a tweet, the Majority Chief Whip stated that the decision taken by Management in 2017, under the leadership of CEO Dr. Benjamin K. D. Asante, to indigenize its operations, is "worth celebrating."
Indigenisation is a process of bringing something under the control, dominance, or influence of the natives of an area.
According to him, "the indigenization saves the tax-payer a monthly bill of $3M ($36M annually) for engaging the services of expatriates. It has opened up opportunities for young engineering graduates and employment for Ghanaian workers, while deepening local participation in the oil and gas sector."
