The Majority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has praised the Ghana National Gas Company (GNGC) CEO, Dr Benjamin K. D. Asante, for his remarkable efforts since his inception.

In 2017, Dr Asante replaced Dr George Sipa Yankey as CEO after his appointment by President Akufo-Addo as the caretaker of the Company.

Taking to Twitter, Mr Annoh-Dompreh noted that several initiatives have been taken under the leadership of Dr Asante, which are "worth celebrating."

He mentioned that the decision to indigenize operations of GNGC's installations is one of the best initiatives taken by its management.

According to him, due to the indigenisation process, a monthly bill of $3million is being saved for not engaging the services of expatriates. This amounts to $36m annually.

Aside from saving Ghana such a colossal amount, the Nsawam-Adoagyiri MP stated that the process has created job opportunities, particularly for young engineering graduates, and deepened local participation in the oil and gas sector.

5. As part of its CSR, the company has completed about 150 projects across the nation covering areas such as education, health, boreholes, roads security, social development and sports – the construction of Astro Turfs.

Under the leadership of Dr Asante, he indicated that GNGC "increased its local workforce by about 300% from 2017 to 2021", adding that "gas flow has remarkably increased from 90mmscfd to 300mmscfd since the indigenization."

Mr Annoh-Dompreh noted that GNGC, through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), has completed about 150 projects across the nation.

These said projects cover education, health, boreholes, roads security, social development and sports – the construction of Astro Turfs.
