Founded in 1946, the Commission on the Status of Women, also known as CSW, is the principal intergovernmental body dedicated to promoting gender equality and women's empowerment.
For over 70 years, the Commission has spearheaded discussions on inequality and discrimination against women. It has also advanced the rights of women and girls globally by generating public discourse on social taboos and drawing attention to stereotypes.
