Prominent highlife artiste, Fameye, says it feels good to have his fans fight for him as he missed out on the ‘Artiste of the Year’ category for this year's Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
He made this known in an interview on Daybreak Hitz, after he was asked about how he feels upon realizing that his fans are really voicing out their grievances after he missed out on the ‘Artiste of the Year’ category for this year's Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
Speaking on the matter, the 'Mati' hitmaker said, "The feeling is so special that it is even telling me to work harder because people are observing, people are looking at whatever you are doing. I mean 4 years ago I was watching VGMA from my home and trying to get the nominated into the Unsung category,” he said
“But I never got it and fast forward I won the New Artiste of the Year and now people are wanting me to be part of the Artiste of the Year, isn't that refreshing? That tells me I'm doing so well for myself and my fans and it also keeping me on my toes,” he continued.
Although Fameye received five nominations in this year's Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, he seems to be disappointed in missing out a spot in the ‘Artiste of the Year’ category, as he believes he had all the credentials in place to be nominated.
"For the Artiste of the Year, everyone knows I was supposed to be nominated even if I wasn't going to win because looking at the year under review, I had all it takes to be there. I was everywhere," he lamented to KMJ.
Fameye has been nominated in categories like Best Afropop song of the Year, Best Highlife Artiste of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Vodafone Most Popular Song of the Year as well as the Record of the Year.
The date and venue of for the event is yet to be announced.
