Head of Youth Banking for Stanbic Bank, Foster Aaron Akugri, has encouraged young people to take up entrepreneurship opportunities.
Speaking at a breakfast meeting on skills and Jobs for Africa’s youth organized by the Design and Technology Institute (DTI), he indicated that the youth should not wait on the government to create job opportunities for them rather they should explore their creative abilities to create their own jobs.
The breakfast meeting held on December 20, 2022 was a follow-up to the 3rd National Precision Quality Conference, which was held in September with the aim of solving the unemployment situation in Ghana.
Speaking to JoyNews, Mr. Akugri, said that the youth have a responsibility to go out of their way and create jobs for themselves and not solely rely on the Government.
An Innovation orchestrator, Emmanuel Gamor, urged young people to embrace careers in Technical and Vocational Education and Training since technology is making blue-collar jobs redundant.
Some participants at the event expressed excitement about the wealth of knowledge they received from the conference.
It was their belief that their request will get to the government and their recommendations will be taken into consideration.
