Some residents of Kumawu in the Ashanti region are unhappy with the pace of work in the construction of roads in the area.
The concerned residents claim the speed of work experienced ahead of the recent bye-election has slowed.
They also doubt the quality of the work, considering the project lacks a drainage system.
Construction of roads in the Kumawu constituency took off after the death of the Member of Parliament, Philip Basoah.
The timing of the development was questioned by both residents and a section of Ghanaians, claiming the swiftness was due to the impending bye-election. An assertion debunked by the road ministry.
Though the contractor is on site, some road users claim the work is progressing at snail pace, compared to speed of work ahead of the bye-election.
Before and during the bye-election, road links from Bodomase to Besore, Woraso and Kumawu townships saw facelifts. Currently, the Wonoo township has been asphalted.
But motorists are uncomfortable with what they described as selective construction work by the contractor.
The contractor is asphalting towns along the Kumawu route, leaving out major works on the roads.
They fear the contractor will leave the site after completion of town roads.
Meanwhile, the residents are appealing for the construction of speed bumps on the route.
