The Old Students of Abuakwa State College, in partnership with the Forestry Commission of Ghana, will undertake a tree planting exercise on Saturday, June 24, 2023.
The exercise will have alumni of ABUSCO plant trees within and around their alma mater.
The initiative by the Old Abuscodians Association (OAA) is in support of
Okyenhene Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin’s target of planting 25 million trees across all towns and villages within Akyem State
The Okyeman Environment Foundation yearns to build the public's interest in biodiversity, sponsor and assist organisations indulging in environmental preservation, and assist individuals who show a keen interest in environmental studies, mainly through scholarships and grants.

The concept is to invite as many of the old boys and girls as possible to come and plant at least one tree in their alma mater, with the Forestry Commission of Ghana providing the tree seedlings and technical support.
The objective, according to the lead organisers, is to reverse the degradation of the school’s forest cover caused by illegal miners, herdsmen, and other encroachers.
The project seeks to replace more than 2,000 lost trees.
The Association’s President, Mr. Edmund Aidoo, has called on all year groups and branch leaders to mobilise their membership for this worthy cause.
Mr. Aidoo said the major side attraction to this initiative will be the one-day homecoming and reunion opportunity created if old students attend in good numbers.
His plea to all members of the fraternity and interested stakeholders is to come together to plant these economic tree seedlings today for a green ABUSCO tomorrow.
