The Institute of Public Relations (IPR) Ghana has inaugurated its students' chapter in Kumasi to ensure a successful transition into professional careers.
The move will expose the students to public relations best practices.
The president of IPR, Mawuko Afadzani, speaking at the inauguration said the dynamic nature of the public relations space demands continuous mentorship.
He was optimistic students will get the opportunity to practicalise their classroom experience.

“It’s so essential that students are grounded at this fledgling stage. This is where theory meets with practice. They will understand the importance of belonging to IPR.
“There is so much to learn in the classroom but there’s a lot more you’d have to pick in the practical world of work,” he said.
The event which took place at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology was attended by students from the Department of Language and Communication Sciences.
A lecturer at the department, Dr. Fortune Tella is happy the partnership will expose the students to many opportunities in the field.
“For us, it’s not only about classroom experience but also having professionals come in and expose them into what happens in the world of work and fulfill roles in public relations,” he said.
The event also coincided with the inauguration of the Kumasi chapter. According to Mr. Afadzanu the move is part of IPR's efforts to enhance the quality of public relations in the country.
“A vibrant Kumasi chapter will resonate across not just half of the country but every bit of the country,” he said.
