Mr. Abraham Sarfo, Lead consultant- Absl Consulting Ltd has challenged graduates to refine their skills to harness available opportunities in the agriculture sector.
Speaking at the 57th graduation ceremony, of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Mr. Abraham Sarfo highlighted some potentials Africa has in agriculture.
The institution celebrated a milestone as its graduate a new cohort of undergraduate student during its 57th Graduation ceremony.
“Permit me to say that agriculture is profitable. There is money in agriculture so be excited. There are areas that are uncharted so far as agriculture is concerned along the value chain. For example baby food is estimated by the International Trade Centre to exceed 1.1 billion Euros by 2026 with Africa importing 570 million infant food per year. Imagine coming out with a formula that combines local ingredients to serve Ghana and Africa. There is huge potential in agriculture and natural resources and we need to grab them,” he said.
After resorting to virtual graduation ceremony due to covid-19, the university management has brought back the in-person ceremony after the lifting of all restrictions by the government.
Provost of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Prof. Ben Kwaku Brannoh Banful, commended the dedication of staff and students of the University.
“I extend my most sincere thanks to my staff for their untiring commitment and hard work. Your effort been very instrumental in bringing the academic year to a successful conclusion. To the graduating class, ayekoo for your hard work and perseverance. As you embark on this journey, it is up to you to make the most of the knowledge you have acquired for betterment of the society. Build on your skills to remain relevant in the society,” he said.
