The Mankranso Division of the Forestry Commission is not fully open for patronage by the public, but some staff members are working “behind closed doors”.
It’s been six days since the security task force of the Commission clashed with some miners at a mining site in Mfante, a community in the Ahafo Ano North Municipality.
Two security guards, Abdul Samed Razak and Hashmil Usman, who were protecting a mining site under the guise of community mining were shot dead by the security task force of the Commission.
The incident has since seen offices of the Commission in the areas being locked up with most staff not actively working.
Families of the deceased security guards and youth of Pokukrom have declared their intent to retaliate if authorities fail to ensure justice for the deceased persons.
They issued a 4-day ultimatum to have perpetrators brought to book, while the National Association of Small Scale Miners demanded justice for the duo in two days.
A visit to the office by JoyNews discovered some officers were working "behind closed doors."
Security is however expected to be intensified as the staff prepare to resume work in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, there have been a series of meetings between the Lands Ministry and the Forestry Commission to understand the circumstances leading to the killing of the two.
