Former Member of Parliament for Tamale Central constituency, Inusah Fuseini says the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, is fighting against corruption to safeguard his reputation and integrity.
He emphasised that the Special Prosecutor employs unconventional methods to express his frustrations and address the challenges he encounters in combating corruption.
Mr. Fuseini explained that Kissi Agyebeng, being a proficient lawyer, possesses the capability to conduct investigations independently without requiring external assistance.
However, he pointed out that there is a growing skepticism surrounding Mr Agyebeng's confidence in his role as the Special Prosecutor.
Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile on Saturday, the former Tamale Central MP said “he [OSP] is fighting [corruption] to protect his own reputation and integrity.”
He highlighted the current predicament of the Office of the Special Prosecutor, contending that its efficacy in combating corruption has diminished.
Mr Fuseini asserted that he was among the first individuals to express criticism regarding Mr. Agyebeng's perceived shortcomings.
“We know what corruption can do, corruption is deadly, corruption can be distractive not only to the economy but to the individual. Several anti-corruption fighters have been killed.”
Mr. Fuseini conveyed his surprise that individuals actively work to impede the smooth operationalisation of the OSP in its efforts to combat corruption.
He further emphasised that the corruption cases being pursued by the OSP should not be perceived as private matters but rather as issues of public interest.
