Management of the Ghana Water Company Limited - Ashanti Region is advising residents of the Greater Kumasi Metropolis to store enough water as it prepares to repair transmission lines at the Barekese Water Treatment Plant.
This follows the perforation of transmission lines by a road contractor constructing drains from Suame Roundabout to Breman Ahenfo.
The situation was temporarily fixed but management of the company have requested full repairs and restoration of the transmission lines, hence a complete shutdown of the Barekese dam.
The repair work is expected to take place on Wednesday, July 24, 2024.
“Management of Ghana Water Ltd. (GWL), Ashanti Region wishes to inform its cherished customers and the public of repair works on the 900mm (36”) transmission line at Breman Ahenfo. As a result, customers are advised to store enough water ahead of this important exercise,” a statement from the company read.
The areas to be affected include Suame, Tafo/Pankrono, Asokwa, Bantama, Sokoban, Kronum, Barekese, Manhyia, Oforikrom, Kwadaso, Atasamanso, Kotwi, Adum, KNUST, Odoum, Asokore Mampong, and surrounding areas.
Management regrets the inconvenience caused but assures customers that supply will be restored immediately work is completed.
