The leadership of the Konkomba Youth Association has called for calm while it engages with appropriate stakeholders to find a resolution to the mounting tension in the Zogbee area and its environs in the Mion District.
The Association has requested its members refrain from recording and sharing audio and video content that could further inflame tensions.
This appeal follows the communal clashes yesterday, which resulted in the death of four people in Zogbee.
A statement signed by General Secretary Elvis Poliyeh Nagbija assured the public that hundreds of soldiers have been deployed to the area to bring the situation under control.
He added that security forces are expected to patrol the entire area throughout the night, urging the Konkombas to avoid confrontations with the soldiers and to cooperate with them to ensure their work is carried out without hindrance.
Elvis Nagbija's statement also urged people to refrain from spreading unverified accounts of events, noting that the day has been marked by significant tension both on the ground and on social media.
The statement explained that the tension stems from a local issue between the Konkomba and Dagomba communities in Zogbee, situated between Sambu and Kulkpeni.
It highlighted that the misuse of social media has exacerbated the localized issue, amplifying it beyond control and resulting in casualties, with individuals from both the Konkomba and Dagomba factions lying in ambush.
The statement concluded by noting that the core issue is actively being addressed, and discussions are ongoing to ensure a resolution that will restore peace to the area.
