German Ambassador to Ghana, Daniel Krull, has praised Ghana for its effective handling of power transition every election year.
According to Mr Krull, this peaceful transfer of power enhances the integrity of elections and promotes stability.
Speaking in an interview on the Joy News' AM Show on August 22, he said, “The Ghanaian people have proven that they have taken very good care of the transition of power and every eight years managed the handing over of power.”
“I don’t expect anything less than that. The Ghanaian people will make sure that their decision on the day of elections will be respected and implemented. I personally believe we will probably have a second round of elections which I’m surprised Ghanaians are not preparing for.”
The Ambassador added that election outcomes are determined by the citizens and expressed confidence that Ghanaians will ensure their choices are not undermined.
Mr Krull noted that there are various methods for scrutinising election results and believes Ghana has the right systems in place to ensure this.
“I think Ghanaians are a very peaceful country and the overwhelming majority of this country wishes a peaceful, fair and transparent elections and they would make sure that they enjoy these elections,” he said.
