The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has reiterated the party's decision not to sign any election peace pact if six conditions the party laid down are not met.
Responding to the National Peace Council's resolve to convince the NDC to commit to a peace pact ahead of the December, 7 elections, the chairman used the French phrase "Premier gaou n'est pas gaou" which translates as "first fool is not a fool", indicating the party will not be deceived again.
Mr. Asiedu Nketia while was speaking to residents of Amanase in the Ayensuano constituency of the Eastern region said that the previous peace pact the party signed exposed its members to extrajudicial killings after the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government failed to adhere to the dictates of the pact.

In the view of the Council, the party has not categorically refused to sign the document although it has raised valid concerns that would be looked at.
