Residents of Nyive and Adaklu Torda, farming communities in the Ho municipality and Adaklu district, have been educated on women's and minors' rights.
The training was organized by the Women and Minors Rights Committee of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA), in collaboration with the Department of Gender.
It was intended to address critical issues about human rights, particularly in the context of vulnerable groups, women and children.
Speaking to the media after the workshop, the team lead, Diana Dzifa, a private legal practitioner said “It is our mandate to ensure that women and minors are not only aware of their rights but also understand how to advocate for themselves when those rights are threatened".

"The committee actively contributes to legislative processes, ensuring that any bills passed in Parliament adequately protect these vulnerable groups".
She said the two communities were chosen because “Both communities were identified for their peculiar issues, but we hope to expand this initiative to other areas across the region".
The training covered key legal topics such as the interstate succession law and the rights under the Land Act.

Participants were actively engaged, with many sharing stories of challenges they’ve faced regarding inheritance and land rights. Through the training, attendees were equipped with practical knowledge on how to safeguard their rights in these areas.
The community members expressed gratitude for the initiative, noting how enlightening the sessions were.
The Women and Minors Rights Committee, in its ongoing mission, continues to champion legal education and rights advocacy, with plans to take these workshops to more under-served communities across the country.
