Ghana’s telecom giant, MTN, has launched its maiden sustainability week celebration in a ceremony at the company's headquarters in Accra as part of its vision on environmental sustainability to achieve its "Ambition 2025 Strategic Commitment to ESG Principles."
At the launch, the staff of MTN led by its Chief Executive Officer Mr Stephen Blewett, Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer, Madam Adwoa Afriyie Wiafe, Senior Manager of Corporate Communications, Georgina Fiagbenu and other department heads gathered in front of the MTN House at Ridge in their green T-shirts to unveil the company’s first electronic car and motorbike.
Under the theme “Sustainability: Our Collective Responsibility,” the week-long event would amplify the company’s utmost commitment to environmental sustainability in Ghana.
After the launch, Mr Stephen Blewett did a test ride of the motorbike. He also did a test drive of the car with Madam Adwoa Wiafe as his passenger.
As part of activities marking the week-long celebration, various experts from diverse backgrounds made presentations aimed at creating extensive public awareness about the newly launched programme and also empowering MTN workers to demonstrate commitment towards environmental sustainability.
The Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer of MTN Ghana, Madam Adwoa Afriyie Wiafe said the introduction of the "Sustainability Week" will help MTN to achieve its "Ambition 2025 Strategic Commitment to ESG principles.
