Independent Presidential Candidate Nana Kwame Bediako has called on Ghanaian youth to put the nation's interests ahead of political party loyalty.
He made the call while addressing residents of Weija in Accra during his tour of the capital.
As part of his campaign tour of all 276 constituencies, Nana Kwame Bediako met with residents of Weija to share his vision for economic freedom. He stressed that the upcoming 2024 elections present a unique opportunity for Ghanaians to focus on national development rather than partisan politics.
“We have been serving only two parties here in Ghana, but I am here to tell you that this time we are not serving any party. We are serving our country,” he said. “How will we get jobs for our families? We are not going to eat the parties. It’s good jobs that can help us cater for our families and pay our hospital bills. 2024 is a special year for all of you to change Ghana. I am coming to bring back your freedom.”
Nana Bediako also highlighted the wave of youth led leadership transformations across West Africa, urging Ghanaians to embrace a similar change.
“When everyone comes, their only interest is themselves and their parties. When the four years is almost up, they come to you with money, rice, oil, and other incentives so you can vote for them again,” he said.
“If you’re voting in exchange for money in any way, you are selling your future and the future of Ghana. Ghana has to wake up. You have to do the right thing.”
He added, “As for 2024, we are going to change it. I am coming to change the pillars of Ghana. All our water bodies have been destroyed, all our gold is gone. You cannot keep serving these parties. It’s time to wake up, it’s time to change this nation. This is a revolution, and I am telling you we are going to change Ghana whether they like it or not.”
