Hearts of Oak coach Aboubakar Ouattara has opened up on his club's title despite previously stating otherwise.
At the beginning of the season, Ouattara shied away from all talk of competing for the title. The Hearts coach modestly said the ambition for the season was to finish above the relegation zone after recent struggles.
However, in what is a sharp departure from his previous stance, the Ivorian threw his hat in the ring for the title.
''There are many teams capable of winning the league this season. Gold Stars, Nations FC, Medeama, Heart of Lions, Asante Kotoko, and of course, Hearts of Oak,'' he told Original FM.
Hearts are four points from the top spot with 19 points, after twelve matches in the league.
Ouattara's team has climbed up after a run of four unbeaten matches, winning three matches and drawing once in that time.
''When writing your final exams at the secondary school, what target do you set for yourself? Of course, it is to get the grades that will take you to the university.''
''But if you say that your target is not to pass, then what is the point of writing the exams?'' he concluded.
Hearts will face Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, December 15, when the league resumes.
The league is currently on a week's break to allow stakeholders to participate in this weekend's general elections.
