The Ad-Hoc Parliamentary Committee investigating the disruption that occurred during the January 30 vetting of minister-nominees will resume its hearings on Friday, 7th February 2025, following an abrupt suspension on Wednesday, 5th February.
According to the chairman of the committee, Emmanuel Bedzrah, "Today there will not be any public hearing, we will continue tomorrow" he said on JoyNews AM Show on Thursday.
The investigation was temporarily suspended when the Clerk to Parliament withdrew staff, citing a lack of authorisation from Speaker Alban Bagbin.
However, Bedzrah accused the Minority caucus of influencing the suspension, claiming that Minority Leader Afenyo-Markin misled the Clerk by incorrectly attributing the decision to the Speaker.
The committee’s investigation will review video footage from the January 30 events, identify and interview key witnesses, and submit a report to Parliament once concluded. The resumption of hearings is expected to provide further clarity on the chaotic events and the involvement of MPs in the incident.
