President John Mahama has announced that he will appoint the final batch of deputy ministers in the coming days, completing his ministerial appointments as promised.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of newly approved ministers at the Jubilee House on Friday, February 7, 2025, Mr Mahama reiterated that he had already nominated 13 deputy ministers earlier this week in consultation with the relevant sector ministers.
These nominations are currently awaiting parliamentary approval.
He urged Parliament to expedite the vetting process to enable the nominees to take office without delay and support their respective ministers in delivering on government policies.
“In the coming days, I will nominate the last four deputy ministers, bringing the total number of ministers to 60, as I assured the people of Ghana,” he stated.
The President reaffirmed his commitment to a lean and efficient government, stressing that while reducing the size of government is important, true efficiency depends on strategy, creativity, innovation, and hard work.
“An efficient government will not build itself. It requires intentional effort and dedication. I, therefore, expect nothing but the very best from all of you,” he told the newly sworn-in ministers.
