President John Dramani Mahama will deliver a special national broadcast on Wednesday, 7 May, to update Ghanaians on the progress of his administration’s 120‑day contract.
The announcement was made by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of State for Government Communications, who invited citizens nationwide to tune in and assess the President’s performance.
“On Wednesday, the President will hold a broadcast in which he will render account for his stewardship in the last four months or 120 days. Therefore, I will urge Ghanaians to tune in and listen to the President so that they can draw their own conclusions as to the level of compliance with the very promises that the President made to the people of Ghana,” Mr Kwakye Ofosu said during an interview on Citi FM on Monday, 5 May.
According to the Minister, the address will showcase key achievements under Mr Mahama’s 120‑day action plan, which include a leaner government structure aimed at cutting public expenditure; the organisation of both a National Economic Dialogue and an Education Dialogue; the launch of the environmental “Tree for Life” and “Blue Water” initiatives; and the rollout of the “One Million Coders” programme to bolster digital skills and youth employment.
In addition, the President is set to highlight the establishment of the Mahama Cares Health Fund, the abolition of the E‑Levy, Bet Tax and Emissions Levy, the funding of the Women’s Development Bank, and the introduction of a Code of Conduct for all government appointees.
Mr Kwakye Ofosu added that Mr Mahama would also unveil further initiatives and provide updates on any outstanding commitments.
