The Ga Mantse King Tackie Tawiah III Wednedsday met Mr. David Lammy MP of Tottenham and Minister for Education at the Houses of Parliament, Westminster in London.
The Ga Mantse called on the Minister to solicit support to secure education and vocational training for the youth of Ga State in collaboration with educational institutions in the UK.
Nii Ga disclosed that he has already been assured by the London School of Business and Finance (LSBF) of opportunities for the training of Ga Youth in the field of accountancy.
He further disclosed that Ga Educational Endowment Fund (GEEF) he initiated on ascendency to the throne has raised close to $150,000.00.
He said that when adequate sum has been raised the fund will be applied to the stated objectives.
Nii Ga indicated that a great deal of help would be needed to upgrade the expectations and development of the youth to achieve self support. He invited Honourable David Lammy to visit Ghana at his earliest convenience to appreciate areas where the Ga state is intending to achieve these aims.
Honourable David Lammy, in response, said he was highly elated by the visit of Nii Ga.
He said there is a high concentration of Ghanaians in his Tottenham constituency who generally live in conformity with the laws of the UK and are very much supportive of him.
On the issues of training of Ga Youth, he promised to secure support for training and education for them through exchanges that can be created between colleges in the UK and Ghana, starting with the College of North East London and requested Nii Ga to formally put in a request to him. He also promised to discuss with Action Aid for resourcing of Ga women at the grassroots level.
Earlier, Nii Ga wasn conducted round Westminster by officials from the Office of the Clerk of Parliament. He was accompanied by Mr. Zed Kofi Grant Essilfie, Ag. High Commissioner, Nii Aryeequaye IV, the Adadenten Mantse and his wife Mrs. Hammond, Mr. Charles Safo, Director of the King Tackie Tawiah III Foundation in London and some senior Ga Royals and officials from the Ghana High Commission in London.
