The Motorsport Federation of Ghana, in partnership with the British High Commission, hosted a thrilling Formula 1 British Grand Prix watch party at the Grasscutters Club House in Accra, drawing motorsport enthusiasts, community members, and dignitaries for a day of high-speed action and meaningful engagement.
The event, centred on the Qatar Airways British Grand Prix at Silverstone, delivered both excitement on the screen and a platform for collaboration off it.
Guests were treated to a dramatic race that saw Nico Hülkenberg secure a long-awaited podium finish, his jubilant radio message — “PODIUM. P3, BABY!” — drawing cheers from the crowd in Accra.
The electrifying atmosphere mirrored the intensity at Silverstone, underscoring Formula 1’s growing appeal in Ghana.
Alongside the race, the event served as an important networking opportunity for the motorsport community.

The Deputy British High Commissioner to Ghana, Mr. Keith McMahon MBE, held discussions with the Motorsport Federation on future initiatives aimed at developing the sport locally.
Key focus areas included grassroots engagement to expand access to motorsport for young Ghanaians, the integration of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) into motorsport education, and collaborative projects between the Federation and the British High Commission.
Mr. McMahon expressed strong support for the Federation’s developmental vision, highlighting motorsport’s potential to drive not only sporting excellence but also educational and cultural growth.
The Federation, in turn, expressed gratitude to the British High Commission, Grasscutters management, and the local motorsport community for helping to deliver a successful event.
Looking ahead, the next watch party is scheduled for 27 July at Labadi Beach Hotel, promising yet another memorable gathering for Ghana’s growing base of F1 fans.
