The Africa Governance Centre has expressed profound sorrow following the tragic military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight distinguished Ghanaians, including two Cabinet Ministers.
In a solemn statement issued on Thursday, August 7, the Centre extended its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and the people of Ghana during what it described as a "painful time" for the nation.
The Centre particularly acknowledged President John Dramani Mahama’s loss, describing it as both personal and national.
“We express our deepest solidarity with His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, as he leads the nation through this dark hour. The loss of two trusted members of his Cabinet is not only a personal blow, but also a profound disruption to the leadership and governance of the country,” the statement read.
It also paid tribute to the exceptional service of the deceased, stating that their legacy must be upheld through principled leadership.
“We recognise the enormous contributions these individuals made in the service of their nation and affirm that their legacy must be honoured with integrity, accountability, and continued commitment to the values they stood for,” the Centre noted.
Reaffirming its commitment to ethical leadership, the Africa Governance Centre pledged its support to Ghana in the period of national mourning.
“As an institution dedicated to advancing ethical leadership and accountable governance across Africa, the Africa Governance Centre stands with the Government and people of Ghana in mourning. May the souls of these eight gallant individuals rest in perfect peace, and may their memories continue to inspire generations of African leaders to come,” the statement concluded.
