The family of Squadron Leader Peter Bafimi Anala, one of the eight state officials who died in last year’s helicopter crash, has appealed to Ghanaians to remember them in their prayers as they continue to mourn their loss.
The family said the passing of the young pilot has left a painful void, adding that they are still struggling to come to terms with his absence a year after the tragedy.
"We ask you to keep the family of the fallen in your prayers. Though time passes, grief remains; your ongoing love, encouragement, and support are priceless," a family member, Percy Anala, said.
They described Squadron Leader Anala as a pillar of strength who played a critical role in supporting the family and ensuring their wellbeing.
The family made the appeal during the government’s one-year national inter-faith memorial service held in Accra to honour the victims of the August 6, 2025 helicopter crash.
They expressed gratitude to Ghanaians for the support shown to them since the incident and urged the public to continue praying for the bereaved families as they navigate their grief.
Squadron Leader Anala was among the eight people who lost their lives when a Ghana Air Force Z9 helicopter crashed at Adansi Sikaman in the Ashanti Region while on its way to Obuasi.
The crash claimed the lives of Defence Minister Dr Edward Kofi Omane-Boamah, officials and crew members who were travelling as part of efforts connected to the fight against illegal mining.
