Management of Ghana National Gas Limited Company (GNGLC) has debunked allegations that the company’s recent maintenance on the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant has been unsuccessful.
A statement signed by the Head of Corporate Affairs of Ghana Gas, Richard Ernest Kirk-Mensah, said the alleged claims were made by New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament for Oforikrom constituency in the Ashanti Region on his Facebook page.
It said: “The post has since been shared on online and other traditional media, and we wish to state categorically that these reports are false and misleading".
The statement noted that the planned shutdown maintenance works included calibration of safety systems, overhaul of the main transmission compressor, servicing of the heat medium system, and replacement of the heat medium system fluid as per requirements and recommendations.
It noted the maintenance exercise was successfully completed ahead of schedule and in strict conformity with international safety and operational standards.
"The plant has since been restarted and is operating safely, and can be verified from our upstream and downstream partners,” it added.
The statement said the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the Deputy CEO in charge of Technical and Operations of the Company both participated and commended the technical team for an excellent job done ahead of schedule, reaffirming Ghana Gas' commitment to professional excellence and energy security.
It assured all stakeholders and the general public that the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant was in optimal condition and continued to deliver a reliable gas supply to power producers and industrial users.
"We urge all media outlets and commentators to verify information from official channels before publication, because circulating unverified claims will only serve to mislead the public and create unnecessary anxiety,” the statement added.
