A carbide cylinder explosion at Suame Magazine Zone 18 has left a man in his 40s in critical condition.
The victim is a driver’s assistant who was at the mechanic's shop to have their vehicle repaired.
An eyewitness, Kwame Appiah, told Adom News that they suddenly heard the sound of a carbide cylinder exploding. When they rushed to the scene, they found a man lying in a pool of blood with deep cuts on his head.

The victim was rushed to the Tafo Government Hospital, but later transferred to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for further medical attention.
"We haven't experienced such an incident in Suame Magazine before, ever since I came here," said the eyewitness, adding that the incident occurred in the absence of the shop owner.

“The man was waiting for his master and the shop owner to come and repair the fault they came with, but no one can tell how the carbide cylinder exploded to cause this harm," he said.
He stated the incident has instilled fear in most of the artisans using carbide cylinders in their operations at Suame Magazine.
