Legacy Girls’ College (LGC), Ghana’s leading all-girls private boarding senior high school, is celebrating a decade of empowering young women through a values-driven and future-forward education.

Launched earlier this year under the theme, “A Decade of Intentional Leadership: Empowering the Next Generation of Women,” the 10th anniversary recognises the school’s bold vision to raise caring, confident, and competent female leaders who lead with purpose and make a positive impact in the world.

“The future of work is no longer ahead of us — it’s here,” said Dr. Mrs. Ellen Hagan, co-founder. “At Legacy, we equip our girls to thrive in a world increasingly shaped by robotics and artificial intelligence. But beyond technology, it’s the human traits — empathy, integrity, emotional intelligence, collaboration — that will keep them relevant and impactful.”

Founded in 2015 by Dr. Hagan and Essie Anno Sackey, Legacy Girls’ College began with just 23 students and has grown into a thriving, full-capacity institution serving nearly 700 students across Ghana and beyond. The school’s philosophy is anchored in five core values: Integrity, Responsibility, Excellence, Ambition, and Determination — captured in the acronym I READ.

“We instil not just academic excellence, but also a strong sense of responsibility to others,” noted Mrs. Anno Sackey. “We want our girls to care — not only about their success, but about the world they’re stepping into and how they can make it better.”

The anniversary float which took place on Saturday the 27th of September, is one of many activities to celebrate God's goodness to the school in its 10 years of existence.

 "This 10-year milestone is not just about the past,” said Board Chair Mr. Israel Titi Ofei. “It’s a recommitment to our mission — to nurture girls who will lead at every level of society, grounded in character and in competence.”

Instrumental to the school’s development is Mrs. Millicent Clarke, the third shareholder and director.  She commented as follows:

“Legacy continues to stand out because of its clarity of purpose and commitment to excellence,” she said. “We’re building an institution that lasts — and that starts with the girls we serve.”

Head of School Ms. Grace Edziyie emphasized that Legacy is more than academics:

“We challenge our girls to grow intellectually, emotionally, and socially. Our vision is to raise well-rounded young women who can lead with courage and character.”
