Rita Chikeru Owhonda is the visionary founder of the Pearlescent Foundation, a non-profit organisation dedicated to uplifting lives across the South-South region of Nigeria.
Through her foundation, Rita has made significant strides in promoting education, empowerment, and maternal health within underserved communities.
Under her leadership, the Pearlescent Foundation has successfully enrolled numerous out-of-school children, giving them renewed access to education and hope for a brighter future.
The organisation has also empowered underprivileged individuals, especially women and youth, by helping them acquire vocational skills and start small-scale businesses, fostering independence and long-term sustainability.
Rita’s passion for humanitarian work extends deeply into maternal and child health.
She has championed antenatal and postnatal care initiatives, ensuring pregnant women receive proper registration, financial support for delivery fees, and consistent follow-up care.
Her efforts have transformed the lives of many women who would otherwise have struggled to access quality maternal healthcare.
In 2022, Rita relocated to England, where her commitment to service has only grown stronger.
Motivated by her enduring compassion for humanity, she has since volunteered with Cancer Research UK and Diabetes UK, contributing her time and skills to advance health awareness and community support initiatives.
She is also an active member of Rotary Direct Membership Britain and Ireland, embodying Rotary’s motto of “Service Above Self.”
Rita has participated in some of Speciallady Awareness initiatives in Ghana, an organisation that promotes reproductive health rights among women and girls.
From Nigeria to England to Ghana, Rita’s journey is one of selfless dedication and unwavering compassion.
Her humanitarian footprint continues to expand globally as she remains steadfast in her belief that every act of kindness, no matter how small, has the power to transform lives.
