The Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Malawi have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation across key sectors.
In a telephone conversation between Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, and Malawi’s newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr George Thapatula Chaponda, both sides commended the positive momentum in relations between the two countries since 2017.
They highlighted progress in areas identified by Arthur Peter Mutharika, President of Malawi, including agriculture, fisheries, mining, trade, and public finance, and underscored the need to further strengthen cooperation in these sectors.
The ministers also praised the mutual esteem and respect that characterise the relationship between King Mohammed VI and President Arthur Peter Mutharika, reaffirming the strong bonds of friendship, solidarity, and brotherhood that unite Morocco and Malawi.
The conversation followed Dr Chaponda’s recent appointment as Malawi’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and the re-election of President Mutharika.
Both ministers expressed satisfaction with the quality of the long-standing partnership between their countries and agreed to intensify collaboration at all levels.
To consolidate this renewed momentum, they announced plans to sign a new Roadmap of Cooperation aimed at promoting deeper economic and diplomatic engagement.
The roadmap will also strengthen coordination and mutual support in regional and international forums.
Both leaders reiterated their shared vision of advancing African solidarity and fostering sustainable development through practical partnerships.
