Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, says steps are being taken to enhance revenue generation for the Ministry and the National Sports Authority (NSA) through better management of sports assets and strategic programming.
Appearing before the Public Accounts Committee on Tuesday (4 November), the Minister said the Fixed Asset Coordinating Unit of the NSA has been tasked to conduct a full assessment of the Authority’s assets and determine their true value to help maximise returns.
“The Fixed Asset Coordinating Unit of the National Sports Authority has been deployed to effectively assess these assets, consider their true value.
"We don't necessarily have to wait for people to come and rent [before we get revenue]. As NSA, we can drive activity and programs towards our facility to drive revenue generation,” he stated.
He added that the Ministry is exploring new avenues to make sports facilities more active and financially sustainable.
“So we are looking at many options to be able to drive revenue and ramp it up a bit so we do what is expected of us,” Kofi Adams said.
The Minister emphasised that the initiative is part of broader efforts to ensure sports facilities are not only well maintained but also become viable revenue-generating assets for the state.
