Flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, has expressed sorrow following the tragic incident that occurred during the Ghana Armed Forces recruitment exercise at the El-Wak Stadium in Accra.
The tragedy claimed six lives and left others injured, many of whom are currently receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital.
In a statement shared on his Facebook page, Dr Adutwum conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families and extended his sympathies to all those affected by what he described as a heartbreaking event.
“I am deeply saddened by the unfortunate incident that occurred during the Ghana Armed Forces recruitment exercise, with several others currently receiving treatment for injuries at the 37 Military Hospital,” he wrote.
The former Education Minister and NPP presidential aspirant also offered words of comfort and encouragement to those undergoing medical care and to the families and friends of the victims.
“I extend my deepest condolences to the bereaved families and loved ones who have been affected by this heartbreaking incident. To those receiving medical care, I wish you a swift and full recovery from your injuries, and comfort for all who were present at the El Wak Stadium during this distressing moment, including parents, guardians, and friends,” his statement continued.
Dr Adutwum urged unity and resilience in the face of the tragedy.
“May the Lord grant strength to every grieving heart and guide our nation through this difficult time,” he added.
